Heroism, super senses, powers
to overcome and wow,
are not exclusive to
decked-out comic book characters;
Super Heroism is a decision, not a gift.
This blog is to celebrate the magnificence of acts large and small, the times when people from every walk of life Step Into the Phone Booth, that defining moment/space when one chooses to transform from ordinary to extraordinary and Step Out, owning that cape and taking to the sky. This blog (bi-weekly fix) is for those of us who long to greet the world with a “YES!” for what IS possible despite any odds (or glances of scandalous surprise).
Super Heroes are tested and tried; they falter and fall, but never fail; they are ridiculed and revered, depending on the day, the mood of the mob, or the perceptions of those they commit their lives to serve; they celebrate, they ache, they laugh, they are sometimes gripped by fear, but through it all, they remain focused on one clear and present truth… They have been given gifts that will serve to make the world a better place and in receiving those gifts they have a responsibility to USE them at all costs.
But here is the BIG NEWS, I’m not talking about Spider-Man, the Green Lantern or Iron Man. The Super Heroes I’m talking about are YOU, ME and every human being strong enough to GET IT! Every single one of us shows up on this planet with gifts, unique and powerful, that are meant to be used for good, greatness even. Each one of us has a responsibility to not only figure out what those gifts are, but to use them every single day to make this planet a better, more inclusive, safe, vibrant, peaceful, joyful place to live for EVERYONE… particularly for those who have lost sight of the Super Hero within themselves.
This is a place to remind each other and the world that Super Heroism is possible, it is alive and well in the hearts and actions of those who listen, trust and YES, have the courage to Step Into the Phone Booth, say to that defining moment “BRING IT ON!” and then, GET IN and come out Flyin’.
Over the weeks to come we will:
Review Super Hero Traits that Define Us All & Typical Trials to be Tackled
Experience Stories of Super Heroism of the Here & Now to blow your mind and ignite a desire in you to Get In
And all along the way you will have opportunity to Link, Click, Pin and Connect with Cape Owners and Aspirers alike..
And Much Much MORE…
Perhaps now your very own Spidey-sense is all a-tingle. I can only hope, because there is much work to be done.
And as you know all Super Heroes live for the next Mission. Your Mission #1, is to hone in on those Spidey-senses and be the Observer. Who in your life has Got It, the keen self-awareness to see beyond what is to what he/she is called to contribute, the ones able to turn conflict on its head and choose greater peace, those able to find hope in adversity, trust when they have every right to feel abandoned by person or circumstance, etc…? You need not DO anything with this information right now. You are simply learning to fine tune your Observation skills and next week… we’ll go from there.
Hal Jordan, soon to be Green Lantern …
“Speak the oath. The oath – because everybody knows the oath. I, Hal Jordan, do solemnly swear, to pledge allegiance to a lantern that I got from a dying, purple alien.”
See… Super Heroes have been asked to do crazier things?!
Welcome to the beginning of your Own the Cape Training. An adventure is afoot. I’m just sure of it:)
