Unleash the Superpowers that BE

Moving at the speed of sound, super human strength, leaping from tall buildings and soaring to save the citizen in distress – all daring feats, but the true purpose of all the flash and pomp? To save, to serve, to offer hope in times of need, and all ultimately designed to restore and inspire greater peace.

Some of our favorite heroes, from comic books and classic tales to Hollywood films and TV mini-series, are gifted with abilities beyond compare – ‘special powers’ they are born with. But look a little closer and you will realize, while most certainly possess an innate ‘gift’, their ability to wield, contain and express it in full force without self destructing only comes with pure intention, singular focus and disciplined training.

While we may not slip into the alley or the phone booth to transform from suit to flashy duds with gadgets galore, do we too not have the opportunity to see a world in dire need of hope, courage and service and become inspired leaders with a vision, a plan and, when need be, a cape?

YES! Oh YES! Having tapped into and honed your Spidey-sense in new and glorious ways these last two weeks (Last Post’s Mission #1), you are a tingle with that innate knowing that says, ‘this is so’. You, yes you, member of the League of Xtraordinary Game-Changers are expressing your powers in numerous and wondrous ways but, as you know, there is ALWAYS room to take ‘er up a notch. If you’re a newbie and wearing the green get-up on this whole journey or a Bruce Banner type, trying desperately to harness your pent of anger and channel it for good, your sheer desire will see you through. For all of you, NOW is the time to get out your pen…

Superpowers are cultivated, not created.

Superpowers are remembered, not designed.

Whatever fancy package you want to deliver them in is up to you, but rest assured, YOU already possess Superpowers beyond your wildest imaginings. And the world needs YOU to get it to the fullest extent of your knowing and then get out there and wield them in the name of Xtraordinary change. You are ready, or you wouldn’t be reading this at this exact moment. And we, the citizens of the planet, are ready for you.

In the movie Zoom, Tim Allen’s character (of the same name) has lost his speedy superpowers. Chalking it up to perhaps age or sedentary ways, he is razzed for what is, but certainly revered for what he once was. Then…(wait for it)…in the climax of near-world-destruction his brother is about to be annihilated and… suddenly Zoom is zooming to the rescue again. To an audience of awe-struck onlookers he says, “I guess I never really lost my powers, I just needed a reason to use them.”

So your Superpowers lie in patient wait, you just need to find your compelling reason to use them.

These last few weeks in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada in the midst and aftermath of record rains and flood destruction, our community has seen T-Bay citizen-heroes donning their capes daily. These unmasked men and women have served up food, shelter, blankets, clothing, a kind word, an embrace and above all hope, hope that peace in our city will be restored once again. These seemingly ordinary, yet oh so Xtraordinary citizens found their reason and thus played out each gift in perfect harmony to shift a community and a small, yet significant portion, of the world for good. (Please see The League of Xtraordinary Game-Changers page for amazing T-Bay Citizens helping with the Flood & Your Chance to Give)

Our global cyber and media connection enables us to watch these heroes discover and reveal themselves time and again whenever a disaster hits or people suffer or our collective ability to respond to environmental deterioration needs a little b#@-kicking. The issues of the day are numerous, the reasons are limitless. Some are global and some show up right at our door knocking at all hours of the day and night. The Superpowers necessary to voice, gather support and momentum, solve, and empower positive change are very much alive and well and can move mountains at will.

But just as Horton’s case for Whoville’s existence could not be made to his persecutors, until the last little Who added his voice to the mix of his community and finally…they could be heard – We need YOU.

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” Margaret Mead

And so, thoughtful, committed citizens and Super Heroes Xtraordinaire…

Your Mission (should you choose to accept it) is this…

#1 Get real. Celebrate what is! We can spend so much time thinking about what and how we should/could change, that we overlook the magnificence that IS. Make a list of all the Superhero qualities you already possess and acknowledge them fully. What we focus on grows. Get growing by leveraging the Superpowers that you possess and express daily in the simple and profound moments of your journey.

#2 Get still. Tap into the innate Hero within you that lies in wait and begs to expand. You are Great already. And, as is true with all of us, we can be Greater. Ask, ‘What are my powers that will shift my day, the moments of those around me today and/or the world around me in the days, weeks, years to come?

#3 Get Clear. Every single second is an opportunity to use our powers for good, for service, for advancing the human race toward profound peace and giddier joy. When you face challenge, use it to dig deeper, to trust fully, be tender with yourself and practice real and freedom-giving forgiveness. When you are in the full-hum of of universal in-sync-cess, treasure it and leverage it to see the flow in others lives and ‘tell them’. See your own Superpowers and those of your fellow League members, celebrate them, expand them and then shout from the rooftops. Our understanding, discernment, conscious action and cheers, will surely stir in others the memory that they too are a Hero one deliberate step away from using their defining Phone Booth moments to step in, cape-up and come out soaring.

#4. Get Busy. Do, at least, one thing this week to take your game up a notch. Notice, and then, act, simply act. Whether it is to listen more openly, or do more consciously – act. By simply doing you will find your reason to remember the innate and miraculous powers that are yours.

By showing up and showering those around you with your Superpowers, our collective light of hope can’t help but burn a little brighter. Go baby go. And by all means ‘comment’, and continue to ‘share’ to inspire the masses to join us on the adventure.

Cheers to given ‘er,
