A Reflection on Fire and Gratitude…
These last number of years, I have dedicated a huge portion of my life energy to being a Momma (& loving the powerful gift it is).
But, as many of you can relate and attest to, when one embarks on motherhood after a wondrous career, Stepping In to homelife even for a time can be an experience of the momentus kind.
It was for me.
I found my groove by keeping a keen eye on my gratitude and holding fast to two truths:
1. That time with my wee ones is fleeting, as they grow in leaps and bounds and lunge for independence day by day.
2. My career will reemerge with verve and in perfect timing, if I simply keep dreaming, planning and creating.
So for 8 years, I delved in and came out writing, I dug deep and lived in the presence of my boys and let them teach me, and I recorded and dreamed of what could be, not just for us, but for other families and even teams and leaders … If I took my philosophies of Center of YES! and Project YES! Life and applied them day-by-day within my family and as we contributed to community and the world. And I let the concept of Heroes fill me and lead me, until our brand rose from within and took shape.
8 months ago, I launched officially what I’d worked on all these years… The Phone Booth Project.
3 weeks ago I launched our first book in the series, The Mad Heroes Manifesto. And in that time I went from 100 Twitter followers, to honing in on contributing to and exploring and celebrating others and now have 800 +. And … most amazingly of all … through it all … my treasured friends across Canada, the US and the World have joined me on the journey and celebrated the collective Hero we all are and supported me every step along the way.
The response to The Mad Hero’s Manifesto has been amazing, our email list is expanding, our League of Xtraordinary Game-Changers is evolving day-by-day … but it all began here with YOU. Thank you for loving me through the silence, and wonder and attempts at inspiring you with my calling to get creative and share of my life, my days, my ways.
I am grateful beyond words (but I seem always to be able to find a few – hee hee).
It has been you my friends, no matter where I’ve ventured, through the silence and in my perhaps Mad attempts to make sense of this wild and baffling world, through various blogs and writings and ebbs and flows… you have shared so much of it and somehow still listen and share and comment and praise. I am humbled by the outpouring of support and it adds fuel to the desire within me to contribute to the world in Mad and Heroic ways and inspire a world that lives present, centered, connected and co-creating.
Below is a review that a new and treasured friend offered after reading The Mad Heroes Manifesto…and it humbled me.
We ALL have these awesome visions, and dreams to ignite…the world needs us ALL to Suit Up. And I am so grateful and FIRED UP that I get to Soar with YOU. And if you are tapping this blog for the first time, and feel a tingle in your soul as you read, I have no doubt we are destined to be friends to come and Soar as we are called to take to the sky in support of one another.
Thank you Steffi Black and those who have offered reviews of the book, and those on the way. I will share them, by way of hope, to ignite a desire in others to join us & Don that Cape as we all attempt, in our own unique ways, to own our opportunities to be Xtraordinary Game-Changers.
And if you would like to offer a review… I would love to hear what you think and how The Mad Hero’s Manifesto has moved you to want to soar even Higher.
Steffi Black’s Thoughts on The Mad Hero’s Manifesto…
“Who doesn’t want to believe in their own worth, their own unique value?
With the Mad Hero’s Manifesto, Jennifer Maki and her Phone Booth Project are calling on us to bring forth our hero and own our true power and suit up with others bringing forth their best selves.
I love it!
I, like many of us, need to be reminded that we are called on to be ‘our heroic selves’ and jump on that journey of self-discovery and authenticity.
There is no one else like you and it’s important to remind yourself that this adventure on earth asks you to believe in your magicalness and soar!
After reading The Mad Hero’s Manifesto, I wanted to get on my superhero cape (in my case, it’s a wonder woman bracelet) and jump up and shout that
I’m here and I’m ready to share and soar with other like-minded souls. I want to be an Xtraordinary Game-Changer too.
And, getting to know the person behind the story, I know you’ll be inspired by her warmth, energy and magical belief in her fellow travellers. Let’s Suit Up, and together, as Jennifer puts it so passionately, “Together, not even The Sky’s The Limit!’
