Honing UR Innate Spidey-Senses

There he is amidst the chaos, the noise, the abstract conversations of friends. It all seems like a regular kinda day, moment, and then…IT kicks in. You can see the 6th sense appear as waves reverberating from his masked mind in classic cartoon style and then…the line…

“My Spidey-senses are beginning to tingle.”

And in the nick of time he averts the danger, saves the stranger, catches the building, dodges the bullet.

Whew.

Wish I had that kinda Spidey-sense that would advise me that my latest choice in partner-come-project, house purchase, biz risk, sure-bet investment, was about to go awry. What a Super Power to have! Wow is Spiderman ever lucky.

Hmm.

Look no further Spidey-guy-or-gal. Your Spidey-sense is alive and well and at your disposal 24-7. Once you know the tricks, tapping in goes wayyyy beyond averting dangers or debacles. It can actually guide your every action to empower you to make heroic choices designed to fuel your Xtraordinary life experience moment-to-moment.

Let’s see if I’m right.

Do you have a small voice within you that speaks, whether you want it to or not?
Have you ever listened to it?
Have you ever ignored it?
Andddd what was the outcome of each?

I’m going to go out on a limb here and suggest that YES! you have a voice that speaks from within. YES! it speaks to you whether you choose to listen to it or not. And then lean out further and say, you know this is true because, over the course of your life, when you do listen you are filled with a sense of calm, peace, joy, knowing, love and truth and, when you don’t it’s a fabulous lesson learned for the books.

Am I right or am I right?

Okay, now for some of you, you know this. You’ve tested it. You’ve taken it out for a full spin. And then, somehow, someway, you find yourself at a crossroads, parked, and unsure of where to next. You’re doing your research. You’re meeting with people who can help make it happen. You’re exploring the next adventure in life or work. You’ve got the ducks lined up and they’re dancing and then…

You’re exhausted. You’re spinning your wheels and little is flowing easily. You’re working, but not flowing and then…

You’re Spidey-senses begin to tingle.

Something is not right here. You think, “I know that when I’m in the flow it is as though all my actions, my thoughts, my writing, my connections, seem to be coming from somewhere outside of myself and it all seems to come together effortlessly, flawlessly. THIS isn’t working, not really, or my Spidey-senses wouldn’t be tingling like mad.”

Engine running, there you sit – ambitious, amazing, driven, together, powerful YOU (this is the you you know you are or you wouldn’t be reading this blog:). Your eyes linger to the left and travel down that road searching. This represents all the world says is available to you, all that you deserve, all that follows in line with what you should be, could be, are expected to be really. And then your head slowly turns and there lies the other path.

It’s obviously a tougher terrain, you can’t see much past the brow of the first hill. But…as you sit in the silence and listen, you can hear the hum of your heart’s longing. You know this isn’t the road most would choose, because it has less glory, will require much more of you and you will certainly have to be wearing a cape to see it through. And yet, as you sit there tingling away, the fire of truth sparks to life and you think…

“This is not a path I choose,
but rather the one that is choosing me.
This is not a choice that I can live with;
this is a choice that I cannot live without.”

There you sit, there we sit, the world on one shoulder and the angel of truth on the other. And no matter how well versed we become at listening to that voice within us, we are human and will be called back time and time again to evaluate WHICH voice it is that we are listening to, adhering to, willing to risk it all for. And yet, if we will stop, breathe and listen…there is no choice really. We can hear the truth loud and clear and it is merely whether we will dance in the light or sit in the dark for one moment longer until we find our legs, step into the phone booth consciously, don that cape and come out flying.

So, what of all this? How do we listen? How do we get home again? How do we know which voice is beckoning us to a higher being?

You already KNOW, but I’ll just fan the flames of your understanding with a cheat-sheet to carry on your way…

Honing Your Innate Spidey-sense.

#1 KNOW and remember all along life’s way, you’ve got ’em. In all situations from food choices to fuel your body, to life choices to ignite your soul.

#2 ASK. In order for that innate wise one to walk through, you’ve got to open the door. What is it you want to know, remember?

#3 SHUT THE DOOR. After you take the step toward the phone booth and open the door, get in and shut the door. You’ll never hear the Guru of You speaking loud n’ clear with the din of life’s perpetual party in your midst. You’ve got to get silent and solitary.

#4 HEAR. Don’t bring your preconceived notions to the moment. Let go of all your shoulds, coulds, woulds and listen. Beyond listening, hear. Listening is opening your ears; hearing is opening your heart. How do you know which voice is speaking, your ego or your omniscient self? Because your higher self always wants your higher good and it feels good in the depths of your being when you say YES! to this.

#5 SUIT UP. This choice will no doubt take heroic feats to achieve and you must bust out the cape you know you’ve always owned and PUT IT ON. Write out what your vision is and what it’s going to take from you and of you to achieve it.

#6 STEP OUT. Now that you know your Spidey-sense has tipped you off and you’ve answered with a plan of action, it’s time to take it to the world. A thousand dreams have crashed and burned on the rocks of good intentions. We need to fly over those rocks with action. Ask yourself this each and every day, “Is what I am doing right now taking me closer to or farther away from my plan, my dream?” If the answer is, “YES!” keep on keeping on Super You. If the answer is, “No” get back in that booth and converse again.

#7 TAKE TO THE SKY. Now’s the fun part. With every step forward in a plan that has Guru Super Power behind it, the world and every opportunity will unfold as if by magic at your feet. Sounds crazy hey? But some of you have definitely felt this power and it is uncanny. Will you have to work? OH YES! But above even that you’ll have to stay plugged in to that voice within you or you risk losing the momentum, losing sight of the true intention that once came loud and clear.

#8 GET BACK IN whenever you need a reminder of why and what you are doing or when that Spidey-sense kicks in to warn you you’re losing site of your heroic vision. Remember this path is worthy of you. It is unique because of you and as such, has never been forged before. It will require a keen ability to keep your eye on the prize that calls to your soul, donning the cape even when you don’t feel like it or feel as though you just can’t possibly answer the call today, surrounding yourself with other heroes who doubt and question and, in spite of that, choose the path that has chosen them day-by-day.

Make no mistake you are designed for greatness. I know it. You know it. And as is true for those who constantly long to evolve to a higher knowing of self and life and the world in which they live…just when you think you’ve got it all figured out, you’ll be called to task in new and unanticipated ways. But if you can learn to hone your Spidey-senses, there is no feat too great that cannot be overcome, embraced, achieved. And once they see you in the sky “Is that a bird, is that a plane? No it’s … YOU”, those onlookers will begin to understand how they too can don their cape and change the world.

To all you members of The League of Xtrarodinary Game-Changers – I am in awe and can’t wait to see how you hone in your Super Powers (hint, hint, Next Issue’s #2 Trait to Hone, to Own the Cape.)

Your Mission this Week (should you choose to accept it) is to…
Tap into those Spidey-senses.

When do they begin a hummin’? When you look at the vision you now hold, the life you live, are there any spaces or places that send out the signal that it is time for change, a shift in the what, why or how?

Are your Spidey-senses sending out a warning signal in relation to someone in your midst who needs your attention, your guidance? If yes, how will you help them hone their own?

Listen to your powerful, heroic Voice and know that the best is here and now and yet, is still yet to be:)

To your journey by the way of Sense…
jennifer

The Voice
There is a voice inside of you
That whispers all day long,
“I feel this is right for me,
I know that this is wrong.”
No teacher, preacher, parent, friend
Or wise man can decide
What’s right for you–just listen to
The voice that speaks inside.
Shel Silverstein
